The incident took place in New London County around 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, at the college located on Crozireer Drive in New London.
New London police and fire personnel responded to the college after receiving information regarding a "suspicious" item on the walking path between the student center and the Plex, said Capt. Matthew Galante, of the New London Police.
The item was described as a metal cylinder taped with wires sticking out of it, Galante said.
Police and campus security cleared the area and students were told to shelter in place, he added.
The Connecticut State Police bomb squad responded to the item and determined that the item was part of a recent repair to the LED lighting along the pathway.
The shelter-in-place was lifted and no one was injured.
